What happens first?

Consultation
If you think you could benefit from for tear trough injections, you will first attend a consultation with one of our oculoplastic surgeons. You practitioner will assess your under-eye area to evaluate the severity of hollowing, dark circles, or puffiness.

The examination includes an overall assessment of facial anatomy and skin quality to determine the most suitable treatment approach.

Your doctor will ask about your medical history, previous cosmetic procedures, medication, allergies and any health conditions.

Your surgeon will explain what tear trough injections can achieve and help you set realistic expectations for the outcomes.

There are a few treatment options available for tear trough injections. These will be discussed, along with any risks and benefits of each type of filler. The hospital will provide a recommendation of the most suitable for you.

You might be a good candidate if you:
Have mild to moderate sagging under your eyes
Have healthy, thick skin
Are comfortable with treatment being temporary
Are general in good health

Treatment options

Tear trough injections are a minimally invasive and effective treatment option for addressing under-eye concerns and rejuvenating the appearance of the eye area.

They are a very specialist form of treatment close to the eye and for this reason, these injections are only undertaken by our oculoplastic surgeons. Tear trough rejuvenation is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment for patients with lower eyelid dark circles or dark hollows (also referred to as ‘tear troughs’ or ‘tear trough defects’).

Step 1: Anaesthetic
Tear trough injections are dermal fillers to rejuvenate and restore volume to the under-eye area. Your surgeon will cleanse the treatment area and apply anaesthetic cream to minimise discomfort.

Step 2: Injection
Using a fine needle, the doctor will carefully inject the filler into the tear trough area to add volume, fill hollow areas and smooth out the area between the lower eyelid and cheek.

Step 3: Massage
After the filler is injected, they may gently massage and mould the product to ensure placement and symmetry will give a natural-looking result. Your surgeon will ask you for feedback as they go to ensure the result is to your wishes.
